Congratulations to Washington sophomore Brady Byrd, he finished third at the Castle Wrestling regional on Saturday to advance to the semi state on Saturday at the Ford Center.  Byrd will now wrestle Walter Hagedorn from Tell City in the opening round of the semi-state on Saturday. Omar Mora was selected as an alternate for the tournament this weekend in the 170 pound weight class. 

The Girls Sectional semifinals will be played tonight. At the 3A tournament in Washington, Vincennes will face off with Sullivan in the first game, while the Lady Hatchets play Pike Central in the second game. 

In Class 2A at North Knox, Paoli plays North Knox at 6pm, while Loogootee faces South Knox in game two.

IN Class A at North Daviess, it will be Barr Reeve and Washington Catholic in game one, while Vincennes Rivet squares off with North Daviess in game two.  The Sectional championships at each site will be tomorrow night.

The Cleveland Cavaliers scored the first 19 points of the fourth quarter and came back to beat the Indiana Pacers 98-85 Sunday night in Cleveland. The Pacers were up by seven after three quarters, but the Cavs made their first eight 3-pointers of the fourth quarter to take the lead for good. The Blue and Gold led by as many as 20, but have lost three straight and seven out of nine. Indiana was led by rookie guard Chris Duarte, who scored 22 points. Pacers forward Domantas Sabonis returned after missing three games due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols and had nine points and 11 rebounds. Cedi Osman led Cleveland with 22 off the bench, and Kevin Love added 19, and the duo combined for all 19 points of the run to start the final quarter. The Pacers are 19-36, and are on the road Tuesday night against the Atlanta Hawks.

The NASCAR season unofficially got underway Sunday with The Clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The exhibition race was staged on a specially-built quarter-mile asphalt track inside the famous Coliseum. Joey Logano won the 150-lap race, followed by Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon. The Team Penske star is one of four active drivers with more than one win in the Clash, which had traditionally been held at Daytona. Rapper Ice Cube performed a “halftime” concert, and NASCAR team owner Pit Bull performed before the race. The NASCAR Cup Series season officially gets underway February 20th with the Daytona 500.
