Vaughn Perkins

Vaughn Allen Perkins, 89, passed away at 1:30 pm on February 8, 2022 at his residence. Vaughn was born in Washington, IN on August 24, 1932 and he was the son of Sampson and Twyla (Allen) Perkins. Vaughn married Shirley Fleetwood on August 6, 1956.

Vaughn retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years of being a letter carrier. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of First Christian Church. Vaughn enjoyed hunting, yard work, building houses and watching IU Basketball and Andy Griffith.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Perkins of Washington, son, Rick Perkins and his wife Ann of Washington; his daughters, Kathy Moody and her husband Tim of Emminence, KY, Karen Mattingly and her husband Steve of Newburgh, Jana McKown and her husband Bryant of Washington; his grandchildren, Matthew Moody and his wife Tiffany, Brooke Prince and her husband Jason, Ashley Lewis and her husband Ryan, Lindsay Mattingly, Holly Mattingly, Kelsey Stefanovich, Sampson McKown, Elizabeth Perkins; and his great grandsons, Tristyn Prince, Grayson Prince, Boston Lewis, Parker Lewis, Bennett Moody, and Hendrix Greenwell. Vaughn is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Maxine Withrow, and Norma Crane.

Friends may visit with Vaughn’s family and friends from noon until the hour of service time of 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, IN. Vaughn’s funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm at the funeral home and Yvonne Evans will officiate. Graveside services for Vaughn with military honors will be held at a date to be determined.
