Darrell Jack Evans, 76, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Darrell was born on February 10, 1946 at Daviess County Hospital in Washington, Indiana, the son of Robert E. and Ella M. (Bline) Evans. He spent a good part of his first sixteen years of his life at the Shriners Hospital in St. Louis, MO being treated for spina bifida. He attended Lincoln High School and graduated in 1964 by using a two-way intercom system from home. He attended Indiana Business College and graduated in 1968. He then helped his parents with income tax forms and then went on to help run the family business, Evans Insurance Agency. He also wrote bail bonds. He kept score for the Vincennes Men’s Slowpitch League at O’Brien Park.
Survivors include John Evans (Gail) of Lake Suzy, FL, Steve Evans (friend Kathy Huxley) of Vincennes, Mark Evans (LaNeal) of Vincennes, Robert Evans (Bambi) of Shelburn, IN, honorary brother Jerry Haggard (Janie) of Vincennes and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ella (Bline) Evans, a niece, Hope Evans, and a nephew, Jacob Evans.
Funeral services for Darrell will be held Monday, February 28th at the Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home at 524 Broadway in Vincennes. Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm, with the service to follow, officiated by Pastor Mike Francis. Burial for family will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Evans, James Evans, Noella (Evans) Madison, Dustin Evans, Dalton Evans, Cameron Evans, Bellami Evans and Aubrey Ella Evans.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vincennes Cub League Baseball.
