The Washington Jr High Wrestling team defeated North Knox last night 69-24.
There are big match-ups tonight. The first will be at the Hatchet House in the annual Senior vs Faculty Game presented by the BPA. The 3-point shoot out starts at 6:00 pm and the game tips off at 7:15 pm. Admission is $5 dollars.
At North Daviess, the top ranked Cougars will square off with Sullivan this evening in the Cougar Den. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm.
Washington Catholic is at home against Vincennes Rivet at the Bird Cage.
Loogootee plays at North Knox.
Shoals is at Wood Memorial.
Tecumseh travels to Princeton.
Last night, Washington Catholic fell to Evansville Day School 70-19.
South Knox got by Pike Central 58-46.
Vincennes Lincoln edged out Terre Haute South 48-47.
Sullivan was over Cloverdale 67-44.
Bloomington South defeated Bloomfield 59-49.
Heritage Hills topped Princeton 52-43.
Mitchell was over Shoals 56-47.
Washington High School will offer pre-sale tickets for the Boys Basketball Sectional beginning Wednesday 2/23 through Thursday 3/3. Tickets can be purchased in the High School Athletic office 7:50 am to 3:30 pm. Washington will take on Sullivan in game 2 of the Princeton Sectional on Friday, March 4. Game time is 6:30 pm EST.
Tickets go on sale for the boys home game on Wednesday in the cafeteria starting at 6:00 pm. There will be 700 tickets for sale. They are season passes only and will be $10 for kindergarten and up. Any tickets remaining will be on sale from Thursday 2/24 through Tuesday morning 3/1 in the HS Principal Office.
Tickets will be on sale at the gate from that point on at Loogootee.
The NTT IndyCar Series gets underway this weekend on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida. Defending series champion Alex Palou (Puh-low) will look to defend his crown in his second season with Chip Ganassi Racing. Andretti Autosport star Colton Herta enters the year on a hot streak, after winning the last two races of the 2021 season. The 21-year-old Herta also won last season at the 14-turn street course in St. Petersburg. Six-time IndyCar champ Scott Dixon has never won at St. Pete in 17 tries. The entry list is composed of 26 drivers with the race getting underway Sunday at noon. IndyCar takes to the track Friday afternoon for practice and will set the grid Saturday in qualifying.
Notre Dame looks to get back in the win column Wednesday night when the Fighting Irish host Syracuse. The Irish lost at Wake Forest Saturday and fell a game back of Duke for the lead in the ACC. Mike Brey’s squad is 19-8 overall and 12-4 in conference play. Syracuse is 15-12, with a 9-7 conference mark. Jim Boeheim’s team has won six out of seven after starting 9-11. The two teams have not met this season. Notre Dame is favored by 5.5 points, and the Fighting Irish and Orange tip off at 7 p.m. Eastern at Purcell Pavillion.
Butler goes on the road Wednesday night at Seton Hall. The Bulldogs are coming off a heartbreaking one-point overtime loss to eighth-ranked Providence, which dropped the Dawgs to 13-15 on the season. Seton Hall is 16-9 on the year, including a 15-point win at Hinkle Fieldhouse in early January. Butler is a 9.5-point underdog, with tip off at 8:30 p.m. Eastern in Newark, New Jersey.
