Sectional tickets are on sale today at all schools for the upcoming boys basketball sectionals this week. Season passes are 10 dollars at each site, and some great basketball is coming your way in the second season, as the tournament begins tomorrow night.
Pike Central opens against Princeton tomorrow in the 3A sectional at Princeton. Tip off is at 7:00 pm.
At North Knox, the host Warriors will face Eastern Greene at 6:30 pm on Tuesday
At Loogootee in Class A, Washington Catholic plays North Daviess, in the first game at 6:00 pm, while the second game tomorrow has Orleans facing Loogootee.
The Indiana Pacers defeated the Boston Celtics last night 128 – 107. A standout second quarter set the Pacers up with an eleven point lead that would only grow as the game went on. Pacers offense was hot all night as four players scored above 20 points or more. Malcom Brogdon performed well in his second game back from injury, recording 20 points while shooting over 50 percent throughout the night. Jalen Smith recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Last night’s victory moves the Pacers record to 21-41 and they remain the 13th seed in the Eastern Conference. The Pacers will be facing the Orlando Magic in back to back away games, the first one starting tonight at 7:00 pm EST.
NTT IndyCar Series started their 2022 season yesterday. The season kicked off with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersberg. New Zealand native and 2021 Rookie of the Year, Scott McLaughlin would earn his first IndyCar Series victory from the pole position edging out Alex Palou by only five-tenths of a second. This result is a mirror image of last years event in St. Petersberg which saw Palou earn his first IndyCar victory over the second place McLaughlin. McLaughlin lead 49 of the total 100 laps in the race. IndyCar veteran Scott Dixon would also manage to lead the race for 26 laps. McLaughlin’s family joined him virtually from New Zealand via his phone in Victory Lane.
The Indiana Hoosiers faced off against the Minnesota Golden Gophers in Minneapolis last night, earning a victory 84-79. Guard Xavier Johnson had a packed stat line as he recorded 24 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds. Number 22, Jordan Geronimo performed well off the bench, putting up 10 points in only 13 minutes of play. Minnesota kept pace with Indiana throughout most of the game. The only key difference between the two teams was the Hoosiers out-shooting the Golden Gophers by nine percent. Indiana’s record improves to 18-10 with only two games remaining in the season. They will take on Rutgers at home on March 2nd, then close out the season in Lafayette where they will face current number four seed Purdue.
