Open burning is currently discouraged throughout the area due to strong wind gusts and current weather conditions.
The combination of the strong southerly winds and low relative humidity values; along with drying fine fuels from recent warmth and drier weather, will lead to an elevated fire danger.
Open burning is discouraged across all central Indiana and particularly over southwestern and south-central Indiana says the National Weather Service.
Winds will increase this afternoon and continue through tonight.
Gusts upwards of 40 MPH are possible.
