Brown County’s Circuit Court Clerk has been arrested following an official misconduct investigation.
49-year-old Kathy Smith of Morgantown is charged with official misconduct, deception, and theft.
Smith is being accused of spending public funds for personal advantage following an investigation by State Police.
Police began their investigation in 2020 after Smith failed to provide receipts for a voucher, she submitted to the Brown County Auditor.
Smith was being held on bond after turning herself in at the Brown County Jail on Friday.
