Major improvements are coming to Daviess Community Hospital.
Hospital officials have announced an $8.8 Million project to expand the Emergency Room.
The expansion would include a new trauma room in addition to several more exam rooms.
The entire second floor would also see renovation and would be designated the new ICU unit. There are currently 5 ICU rooms at the hospital, but the expansion project would add an additional room.
At yesterday’s Daviess County Board of Commissioners Meeting, hospital officials requested financial support from the county for the improvements.
The Commissioners then agreed to pay $400,000 towards the project pending Council approval.
The other portions of the project will be funded through DCH cash reserves.
This will be the first major construction project at the hospital since 2002.
