A man was transported to the hospital following a single vehicle crash in Jasper last night.
On Tuesday around 6:00 pm, the Jasper Police Department responded to a single vehicle accident near the intersection of 13th/ Newton.
Officers determined that 58-year-old Johnny Mitchell was driving a vehicle northbound on Newton Street before exiting the roadway. The vehicle continued northbound through the front lawn of St Joseph’s Church and then across 13th street where the vehicle came to a stop in a yard.
The vehicle had struck a pole and a tree after leaving the roadway.
Shortly after arriving on scene, officers saw that the driver was suffering from a medical emergency.
Memorial EMS and Jasper first responders were then called to the scene.
The driver was transported to Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center by EMS.
No other details have been made available and the man’s condition is currently unknown.
