Daviess County Council Approves Funds for DCH Expansion Project

The Daviess County Council met for their regular meeting Wednesday morning. The Council began the meeting by approving the $400,000 request from Daviess Community Hospital for their emergency room expansion project. The council paid out the request using Care’s Act dollars. The council also approved a maintenance contract with Spillman out of the rainy-day fund.
Kellie Streeter with the Health Department was also at the meeting and stated Daviess County had been awarded a $220,000 grant for the health department workforce. The grant is a portion of the nearly $48 million dollars the state received from the CDC. The grant money will be used to maintain the health department workforce in addition to school support.
Finally, the council approved an appropriation for the Daviess County Clerk’s Office in the amount of $9,409 for new office equipment.
Following the business portion of the meeting, Council President Matt Meredith noted he was proud of the county workers for all their work. He said things are really coming to together pointing to the progress of the Central Dispatch Center and Airport Runway Extension. He noted everyone’s hard work was appreciated.
