Morris E. Bilskie passed away peacefully on March 8, 2022 at the age of 82. Morris was born October 23, 1939 in Knox County, Vincennes, the son of Clement, Sr and Julia (Mouzin) Bilskie.
Morris was a graduate of St. Thomas Grade School, Decker High School, Vincennes University and the University of Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1965 with a master’s degree in Food Science and Economics. After graduation he went to work for Swift & Co. in St. Louis, then transferred to many locations within the company, ending up in Chicago.
In 1980 he received the Swift & Co. Prestigious Award for his exceptional innovative and creativity, outstanding leadership and efforts that go beyond expectation. He became new Product Manager when he was in Chicago in 1985.
He held numerous positions throughout Swift-Eckrich including sales, marketing, new product development and business management, management of both deli and food service products including hams, cooked bacon, bulk domestic and Brown’N Serve sausage. He became V.P. of Swift Pork Services Division in 1992. Morris retired from Swift & Co. after 35 years of service, and he did consulting work after retiring.
Morris enjoyed traveling which included places in and out of the country. Farming was always in his blood, so he made many investments in farmland while he worked for Swift & Co.
Morris is survived by his family– two brothers, Clem, Jr (Faye) Bilskie; Larry (Sara) Bilskie; and sister, Judy Kay Bilskie, as well as four nephews, Brian (Camilla) Bilskie; Nicholas (Jennifer) Bilskie; Jared (Jennifer) Bilskie; Heath (Lindsay) Bilskie and three nieces, Sandy (Henry) DeBuisseret; Debbie (Jim) Swain; and Linda (Eric) Lane, Eric Stewart, Sandra Stewart, as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Clement Sr. & Julia (Mouzin) Bilskie and his sister-in-law, Carolyn (Carie) Bilskie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2022 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Bicknell, Indiana, concelebrated by Father Tony Ernst and Father Simon Natha. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, March 14, 2022, 9 a.m. to 1030 a.m. at Fredrick & Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Bicknell Chapel. He will be laid to rest in the St. Vincent Cemetery in Vincennes.
