The Indianapolis Colts are trading quarterback Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders. Indianapolis will receive Washington’s third round picks for this year and next year, and the 2023 selection will become a second rounder if Wentz plays 70 percent of snaps. Additionally, the teams will swap second picks, which moved the Colts from the 47th pick up to the 42nd pick in next month’s draft. The trade cannot become official until the new league year begins March 16th. Washington will pay Wentz’s full salary of 28 million dollars.
Butler upset Xavier 89-82 in the first round of the Big East Tournament Wednesday sat Madison Square Garden. The Bulldogs scored eight points in the final 45 seconds of regulation to overcome a six-point deficit and force the extra session. Simas Lukosius scored a career-high 27 points off the bench, including two free throws to tie the game at the end of regulation. The freshman rattled off 12 straight for the Dawgs between the end of regulation and overtime. The ninth-seeded Dawgs improved to 14-18 and snapped a five-game losing streak. Butler advances to play top-seeded Providence in the quarterfinals Thursday at noon.
\Indiana takes on Michigan Thursday morning in the Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis. The ninth-seeded Hoosiers need a victory to boost their NCAA Tournament resume. In one previous matchup, the Wolverines dominated IU 80-62 in Bloomington. Eight-seeded Michigan is 17-13, and will get coach Juwan Howard back from a five-game suspension. The winner will advance to play top-seeded Illinois Friday morning. The Hoosiers and Wolverines square off at 11:30 a.m. Eastern at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on BTN.
Notre Dame will face Virginia Tech in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals Thursday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. In the second round Wednesday night, Virginia Tech beat Clemson 76-75 on a game-winning 3-pointer as time expired in overtime. The Fighting Irish are the second seed and enter Brooklyn 22-9 on the season. Notre Dame and Virginia Tech get underway at 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2.
