Three Caregivers Charged with Neglect After Patient Dies

Three caregivers in Evansville have been charged after a special needs woman they were supposed to take care of died.
Reports say she died because the caregivers thought they didn’t think it was their job to take her to the emergency room. Court documents say caregiver Latavia Booker called 911 when Robin Phillips, who was mentally challenged, was found unresponsive back in 2020. She ended up dying.
A few days before that, Booker’s bosses at Compass Residential asked she and two other workers to take Phillips to the ER, but the three said they didn’t think it was their job to do that.
Phillips ended up dying of an overdose of her meds, which would have been caught had she been taken to the ER.
Booker, Glenda Fields, and Victoria Brown are now charged with neglect.
