Jerome “Jerry” Michael Bowling, 76, passed away at his Montgomery residence on March 12, 2022. He was born in Washington on September 29, 1945, to Joseph Ivan and Nellie Estelle (Swann) Bowling. On March 20, 1971, he married Jane (Nolley) Bowling and she survives.
Jerry served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and was a Viet Nam veteran. He also served in the Indiana National Guard. He was retired from Crane where he was an electronics technician. He also drove a truck for Tommy Evans. A man of various interests, Jerry enjoyed his gun collection, playing video games, and collecting eagles. He was a member of the Washington Conservation Club, a past commander of the Washington American Legion, and a member of the Washington VFW.
Those who now cherish Jerry’s memory include his wife, Jane Nolley Bowling; sons, Robert Eugene “Geno” Bowling of Vincennes, Karl Shawn (Johanna Ward) Bowling of Washington, and Shane Anthony (Holly) Bowling of Heltonville. Jerry was blessed with five grandchildren: Abbie Denise (Kenny) Richardson of Vincennes; Jacob Michael Bowling of Vincennes; Kaitlyn Danielle Bowling (Marcus Brownell) of Vincennes; Luke Nicholas Edward Bowling of Washington; Ford Michael Bowling of Heltonville, step-grandchildren: CJ Franklin of Washington; Tyler Dale Nading of Heltonville; Sadie Roxanne Nading of Evansville; and Joseph Craig Dyer of Evansville. There is one great-grandchild, Scarlett Brownell of Vincennes and one step-great-grandchild, Sienna Dyer. Jerry leaves his siblings: Edward Bowling of Petersburg; and Margaret Ann Bowman of Washington, and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Nellie Bowling, and his brother, Karl Francis Bowling.
Memorial contributions in Jerry’s memory can be made to either the Disabled American Veterans at 25 NW 11th Street, Washington IN 47501, or the Washington Conservation Club at 350 West 150 South, Washington IN 47501.
Visitation for Jerome “Jerry” Michael Bowling will be 4:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, North Chapel, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation, also at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, North Chapel, beginning at 7:00 pm. Pastor Tim Baxter will officiate. The Washington American Legion and the Washington VFW will accord military rites. Burial will be at a later date.
