Margaret Elizabeth Casper passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18th at 4:05 pm while at The Villages at Oakridge. Her family visited and watched her daily since her illness on December 2nd when she was unable to remain in her own home. Margaret was born on Tuesday, August 19th, 1924, to Herschel and Lorene Miles Cannon. She married John W. Casper on Wednesday, September 19th, 1945, and they were married 62 years until he passed away on Wednesday, March 12th, 2008.
Those left to cherish her memories include her children Jeff Casper and friend Helen Kaiser, Mike Casper, Steve Casper, Amy Tuggle, husband Daniel, granddaughters Lendi Eskew husband Derek, Amber Tompkins fiancé Bryan, great grandchildren Breah Eskew, Brayden Eskew, Owen Tompkins, and Grant Tompkins, along with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Rose Cannon Kirby, Mary Catherine Cannon, brother Ralph Cannon, infant daughter Lou Ann Casper, and infant great granddaughter Shaya Tompkins.
Margaret graduated in 1942 from Washington Catholic High School. She was employed by Uniroyal and later retired from Hersch’s IGA in the Bakery department. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope and previously St. Mary’s Church. She was a member of St. Mary’s Alter Society, The Friendly Club, and RSVP. She enjoyed crocheting baby hats and booties for the newborns at Daviess Community Hospital. She enjoyed watching IU basketball and Indianapolis Colts Football. She would cheer them on. Spending time with her family was very important to her. She will be deeply missed by all.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Margaret Elizabeth Casper will be held on Friday, March 25th, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street Washington, Indiana. Officiating will be Rev. Paul Ferguson and Yvonne Evans. Interment will follow in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Washington, Indiana. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, March 25th, 2022, from 12:30 pm at the funeral home until time of service.
