Toyota & GM Pausing Production Next Month

Toyota will “pause” production at the plant in Princeton for five days in April because of supply chain issues. The plant announced last week that on April 1, 8, 14, 15 and 18, the plant will not be making any new cars.
On the days the employees will not be making vehicles, they will have the option of taking a paid day off, taking unpaid time off, or coming to work to do other things that need doing.
The plant employs 7,222 people who make the hybrid Sienna minivan; two Highlander models and the Sequoia, which is a full-size SUV.
Supply chain issues have cause problems with other car manufacturers in Indiana, such as GM in Ft. Wayne.
The GM plant in Ft. Wayne will also be shutting down production next month. GM will be down for two weeks due to the chip shortage. That plant, which employs about 4,000 people, produces the Silverado and Sierra pickup trucks.
