Vincennes Man Facing Multiple Charges After Struggle with Officer

A Vincennes man faces several charges after pepper spraying an officer during an investigation.
On Saturday night, officers with the Vincennes Police Department were called to Walmart on Kimmel Road in reference to a shoplifting complaint.
The suspect fled the store and was later located inside of Great Clips on Kimmel Road. He was identified as 52-year-old Brian Kixmiller of Vincennes.
An officer commanded Kixmiller to put his hands behind his back so he could be detained. Officers say Kixmiller refused, stood up in an aggressive manner, and sprayed pepper spray over his shoulder toward the officer. The officer’s face, arms, and hands were heavily contaminated in pepper spray, but he continued to try to detain the suspect who was trying to flee.
Eventually a taser was deployed and Kixmiller was taken into custody. The officer was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was thoroughly decontaminated and treated for a minor injury to his left arm. Kixmiller was also transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was medically cleared before being transported to the Knox County Jail.
Kixmiller was charged with Battery on Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Theft.
The Vincennes Police Department thanked the employees of Great Clips for offering their services to help initially decontaminate the officer.
The department also thanked an unidentified male customer of Great Clips who helped apprehend the suspect.
