Gunshot Leads to Arrest in Jasper

A gunshot led to the arrest of a Jasper man on Sunday.
Just before 8:00 pm last night, the Jasper Police Department was dispatched to Westwood Apartments in reference to a single gunshot.
After investigation, it was determined that 26-year-old Carlos Velez-Zamot had fired his weapon resulting in damage to a wall in the apartment.
Officers also located marijuana and said that the subject had attempted to discard it prior to officers’ arrival.
Velez-Zamot was charged with Criminal Recklessness, Obstruction of Justice, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
He was booked into the Dubois County Jail.
