Washington Man Facing Several Felony Charges Following Traffic Stop

A Washington man faces several charges following a traffic stop in Pike County.
On Saturday afternoon around 3:25 pm, Indiana State Police was patrolling I-69 in Pike County when a trooper observed a black Dodge Charger traveling north at 87 mph in the 70-mph zone.
The trooper stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 31-year-old Kyle R. Horstman of Washington.
The trooper says that while talking to Horstman, he detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The officer also observed a syringe on the passenger side floorboard.
The trooper also says Horstman displayed signs of impairment, failed field sobriety tests, and refused to submit to a chemical test. During a search of the vehicle, officers located three more syringes and a handgun that was in multiple pieces.
Horstman was arrested and taken to the Pike County Jail where he is currently being held without bond.
He is charged with Prior Possession of a Syringe, Carrying a Handgun with a Prior Felony Conviction, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated, and Carrying a Handgun without a License.
