The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced the “preferred route” for the Midstate’s Corridor Project.
INDOT has chosen “Alternative Route P”.
According to that notice, the stretch would start at U.S. 231 in Spencer County and use the existing highway until reaches I-64. The new, 54-mile portion of the road would then break off and run parallel to U.S. 231 north and south before ending at I-69 just north of Crane.
This route would run through the rural portions of the area and bypass Jasper & Huntingburg and also touch portions of northern Daviess County.
Two public hearings are scheduled for later this month to discuss the plans.
The first will be held on Tuesday, April 26, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Westgate Academy in Odon.
A second public hearing will be held in Jasper on Thursday, April 28, at the Jasper Arts Center from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Each hearing will include a presentation followed by a formal public comment session.
Spoken comments will be limited to two minutes per person so everyone that has a comment has a chance to speak.
