The Daviess County Commissioners and Daviess County Council met in a joint meeting yesterday morning.
The Commissioners met first and heard updates from the highway department. Chris Winkler reported that concrete paving on Cannelburg road has started but has been slowed by the weather. Crews have paved from 100 North to a little past 200 North.
Winker also reported that he spoke with the Amish Safety Committee who was requesting a road closure for an event at Dinky’s Auction Center in Montgomery. The event is expected to bring in around 7,000 people on July 1st and July 2nd. County leaders agreed the economic impact was worth the close and agreed to close 550 North between 900 East and 975 East to through traffic.
In other business, county leaders approved a contract for the Daviess County Clerk’s Office with TM Office Solutions. Leaders also approved a contract with Formstack allowing the county to post PDF and other documents online.
