Sam Emmons was a medalist carding a 38 yesterday at Cypress Hills as Barr Reeve captured another golf win defeating Vincennes Lincoln and South Knox yesterday.
Barr Reeve girls tennis were winners yesterday on the road at Vincennes 4-1.
North Daviess baseball cruised to a 12-2 win over Bloomfield. They will face Bedford tonight. North Daviess Softball also big winners over Eastern Greene yesterday 13-1. Cougar Softball is now 6-4.

It’s playoffs time and the Suns are already at a disadvantage. Their star forward Devin Booker hurt his hamstring in game two of their series against the Pelicans. He will now reportedly miss the next two games, where both teams are tied one game apiece. It’s a huge loss for Phoenix because Devin was having a huge game – scoring 31 points in 25 minutes – before becoming injured.
Jay Wright is no longer a Wildcat. The Villanova head coach shockingly announced his retirement after 21 years and two national championships. In his meeting with the team, he told his players that Fordham coach Kyle Neptune will replace him. Reports say the powers-that-be at Villanova tried to get Jay to change his mind, but he wouldn’t budge.
Is it May yet? The Indianapolis 500 is just over a month away and Wednesday was the first day of open testing as drivers and teams prepare for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Scott Dixon turned in the best lap of the day with a speed of 227.187 mph. Conor Daly was second fastest overall behind Dixon with a speed of 226.985 in the No. 23 car. The session started after a 90 minute delay due to morning rain around Indianapolis Motor Speedway and officials stopped the session 30 minutes early to inspect the acceleration lane inside turns 1 and 2. A handful of drivers spun in turns 1 and 2 including three Indy 500 winners. Alexander Rossi, Will Power and defending champion Helio Castroneves all had issues in that section of the track on the first open test day as the 106th running of the race inches closer on Sunday, May 29.
The Chicago White Sox fell twice to the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday afternoon. The two ball clubs were making up a missed game on April 19 and the doubleheader belonged to the Guardians. Cleveland outscored the White Sox 13-2 across 18 innings starting with an 11-1 victory in the early afternoon. A nine-run second inning from Cleveland left Chicago in the dust as Jose Ramirez drove a ball 386 feet into the left field stands for a grand slam. Meanwhile, in Chicago the Cubs fell to the Tampa Bay Rays as the Rays put up a four spot in the top half of the first inning. Miguel Cabrera got hit No. 2,999 but the Tigers fell at home to the Yankees 5-3 and the Cardinals edged out the Marlins 2-0 on the back of a 9th inning homerun from Nolan Arenado. The Reds were shut out yesterday in San Diego falling to the Padres 6 to nothing and dropping to 2 and 11 on the season.
