wcs-2-2

Washington High School students have another opportunity to take a unique class that no other area school offers.
At last night’s Washington School Board meeting, WHS art and photography teacher Jenalee Council reported on the Art Outreach program. Council said that she applied for and received an $8,600 grant to purchase equipment and software.
The Art Outreach students have created 22 original pieces that are being displayed and integrated into logos and public marketing campaigns both locally and nationally, including the YMCA, TruScripts, Our Community Foundation, Holiday World, Indiana University, and several others.
Council said the program is always accepting requests for additional projects and multimedia needs.
In other business, the Board accepted the retirement of long-time instructional assistant, Jan Wonder. The Board also accepted the resignation of WHS ENL teacher Thomas McAlister. The Board approved Missy Brothers and Bridget Fellers to lead the summer IREAD program, and Lisa Emmick and Shannon Strange to lead the Summer High Ability STEM Camp.
The next  meeting is scheduled for 12:00 pm on May 19th.
