Seth Wagler was the winning pitcher as Barr Reeve grabbed a 5-4 narrow win at Loogootee. Wagler also hit a three run homer in the 7th to push the Vikings on top to stay. Loogootee clawed back with the tying run waiting on third before Lane Graber got the save for the Vikings.

In Cincinnati, the San Diego Padres scored eight runs in the fourth inning en route to a 9-6 win over the Reds. The Padres dropped Cincinnati to a league-worst 3-14.
The NCAA announced that president Mark Emmert will retire by June 30, 2023 at the latest. Emmert will step down before that date if the Indianapolis-based organization finds his replacement. Emmert has led college sports through a turbulent past 12 years. In 2021, the Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that the organization violated antitrust laws by limiting the compensation allowed for student athletes. That same year, due to legislation in multiple states, the NCAA began to allow student athletes to profit off their name, image and likeness, or N-I-L. Emmert recently had his contract extended into 2025. The 69-year-old took the NCAA’s top job in 2010 after a stint as the president of the University of Washington.
IndyCar announced a new qualifying format for next month’s Indy 500, featuring two rounds of pole qualifying. On Saturday, May 21st, all cars will qualify, and positions 13 through 30 will be set. If there are only 33 entries, which is expected to be the case this year, then positions 13 through 33 will be locked in on Saturday. The fastest 12 from Saturday will come back Sunday and compete to fill the first four rows over two rounds, with the top six advancing to vie for the pole position. The format aligns more closely with most other IndyCar races, which feature a round of 12, followed by the Firestone Fast Six. It replaces the most recent format for the Indy 500, in which the top nine drivers competed for the pole in a single session. The 106th running of the Indianapolis 500 will be held May 29th.
