Crash Involving Spencer Co. Sheriff’s Deputy Leaves One Dead

An Indianapolis man is dead following a collision with a Sheriff’s Deputies’ patrol car in Spencer County.
Early yesterday morning, a Honda SUV was traveling eastbound on SR 66 in Spencer County when, for unknown reasons, the Honda drove off of the roadway, overcorrected and traveled left of center into the path of a Spencer County Deputy driving westbound.
The vehicles collided in the westbound lane and the driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.
He has been identified as 61-year-old Phillip Brown Jr. of Indianapolis.
The deputy, 27-year-old Ronald Harper Jr., was transported to an Owensboro Hospital and later flown to a Louisville Hospital for further treatment.
The deputy’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in this crash.
