Daviess County
There was only one race in Daviess County, and it was for Van Burren Township Trustee. Amanda Stoll and Teresa Huff were both vying for that seat. Amanda Stoll won with about 64% of the votes.
Martin County
In the District 2 Commissioners Race, John Collins beat Paul George by about 33 votes for the win.
In the Martin County Council District 2 race, Jim Hamby beat Gerald Montgomery and James Stiles.
In the Martin County Council District 4 race, Andrew Beaver beat Sheri Bowling by about 24 votes.
In the Perry Township Trustee race Jason Hennette won against Darla Harper-Wagler and Brenda Smith. Hennette was followed very closely by Darla Harper-Wagler.
For the GOP Shoals Town Council Race, there were four individuals running for the three spots. The individuals running were republicans Roger Abel Jr., Cary Albright, Kevin Boyd, and Richard Gibbs. Roger Abel Jr., Cary Albright, and Richard Gibbs are the winners. They will head to the General Election with 3 democrats. Those candidates are Micky Crew, Walter Holt, and Cecil Ragsdale.
Martin County had the most races on our list however, the county had a very low voter turnout with only 20%. There were less than 1,200 voters who went to the polls today and 355 who voted absentee for a total of 1,519. There are 7,662 registered voters in Martin County. 480 people pulled the Democrat ballot and 1,039 people pulled the Republican ballot. Of those, 3 people turned in a blank ballot.
Pike County
Down in Pike County, there were two council races. Republicans Randy Harris and Jared L. Furman were both vying for the district 1 seat on the Pike County Council. Harris beat Furman to secure the district 1 seat. Randy Harris had 57% percent of the votes.
Republicans Jim Johns and Max Elliot were running for the district 3 seat. Max Elliot won with 77% of the votes.
Knox County
In Knox County, incumbent Doug Vantlin was running against Dan Short for County Sheriff. Sheriff Doug Vantlin won with nearly 72% of the votes.
Republicans Kelly Hopwood, Brent Davison, and Gary Hall were each running for County Recorder. Kelly Hopwood won with over 45% of the votes.
There were two races for voters in the Harrison Township in Knox County.
Toby Like and Pam Hazel were both running on the republican ticket for Township Trustee. Toby Like was the winner with about 81% of the votes.
Three seats were also open on the Harrison Township Advisory Board with 5 republicans vying for those. They were Dane Cantwell, James Mallet, Herbert Nowaskie Jr., Mick Jones, and Gary Williams. The seats went to Dane Cantwell; Herbert Nowaskie Jr., and Gary Gene Williams.
State Races
On the state side, in the 8th District Congressional Democrat race Ray McCormick leads with nearly 77% of the votes currently counted. Adnan Dhahir has about 15% and Peter Priest II trails with only about 8%.
In the District 45 State Representative race, Incumbent Bruce Boarders leads with 66% of the current votes against Jeff Ellington who only has about 34% of the votes.
