Today is the 2022 Primary Election.
DAVIESS CO: There are no contested races for Daviess County.
MARTIN CO: Martin County has a few contested races. Democrats John Collins and Paul George are both seeking the district 2 seat on the Martin County Board of Commissioners.
In addition, there are two council races for Martin County. Republicans Jim Hamby, Gerald Montgomery, and James Stiles are all seeking the district 2 seat on the Martin County Council. Republicans Andrew Beaver and Sheri Bowling are vying for the district 4 seat.
There are four individuals running for a seat on the Shoals Town Council. There are three seats open. The individuals running include Republicans Roger Abel Jr., Cary Albright, Kevin Boyd, and Richard Gibbs. The three winners will face democrats Micky Crew, Walter Holt, and Cecil Ragsdale in the 2022 General Election.
Lastly, three candidates are also in the running for Perry Township Trustee. Those candidates are democrats Jason Hennette, Brenda Smith, and Darla Wagler.
PIKE CO: Down in Pike County, there are two council races. Republicans Randy Harris and Jared Furman are both vying for the district 1 seat on the Pike County Council. Republicans Jim Johns and Max Elliot are running for the district 3 seat.
KNOX CO: In Knox County, incumbent Doug Vantlin is running against Dan Short for County Sheriff. Republicans Kelly Hopwood, Brent Davison, and Gary Hall are each running for County Recorder. Current Recorder, Lisa Clark-Benock, is running unopposed on the republican ticket for County Auditor.
There are two races for voters in the Harrison Township in Knox County. Toby Like and Pam Hazel are both running on the republican ticket for Township Trustee. Three seats are also open on the Harrison Township Advisory Board with 5 republicans vying for those. They include Dane Cantwell, James Mallet, Herbert Nowaskie Jr., Mick Jones, and Gary Williams.
STATE: On the State Side for the area, republican incumbent Bruce Borders is running against republican Jeff Ellington for State Representative in district 45.
Three candidates are seeking the democratic nomination for United States Representative in district 8. Those candidates are Adnan Dhahir, Ray McCormick, and Peter Priest II. The winner of the primary will run against Larry Bucshon in the 2022 General Election later this year.
