Area baseball and softball games were cancelled last night due to weather conditions.
Yesterday Kenneth “Ziggy” Siegfried, director of athletics at University of Evansville, announced that UE and men’s basketball coach Todd Lickliter have parted ways. Likliter was hired in January of 2020 and finished his two seasons with a combined record of 15-40. According to Stadium’s basketball analyst, Jeff Goodman, former Georgia and Indiana University basketball coach Tom Crean is one “hot name” for the position.
The entry list for the running of the 106th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge is now up to 33 drivers. DragonSpeed and Cusick Motorsports announced that they will be coming together to get Stefan Wilson into the greatest spectacle in racing. Wilson, 33, will be in the number 25 car attempting to make his fourth start in the Indy 500. The highest finish for Wilson was 15th in 2018 when he was a member of Andretti Autosport. Qualifications for the race will be Saturday, May 21st and Sunday, May 22nd.
The Milwaukee Brewers play home run derby en route to dispatching the Cincinnati Reds 10-5 to complete the three game sweep. Brewers SS Willy Adames went deep twice, Luis Urias, Christian Yelich, Tyrone Taylor, and Keston Hiura all went deep. Rookie RHP Hunter Greene for Cincinnati went two and two-thirds and surrendered eight runs, nine hits (5 homers and 3 doubles), and struck out seven. The loss is the ninth straight for Cincinnati and the thirteenth consecutive road loss. The Reds will head back to Great American Ballpark for a seven game homestead starting with a four game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
