A routine traffic stop in Dubois County resulted in a felony drug charge for the driver.
Last Thursday, police arrested 32-year-old Mark Douglas Scott of New Salisbury for dealing meth.
Court documents show an officer with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office saw an SUV make a wide turn into the center lane while leaving a restaurant on US 231.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle came to an abrupt stop, turned onto a cross street, and then came to a complete stop after striking a curb.
The officer said the driver’s hands were shaking uncontrollably.
A K9 unit was called to the scene which allowed officers to locate over 52 grams of meth, a digital scale, and clear plastic baggies.
Officers also found loaded CO2 powered BB guns in the back seat. Both were loaded.
Further investigation revealed Scott was staying at a hotel where four glass smoking pipes were found alongside a line of a substance appearing to be meth on the counter.
Scott was arrested without incident and transported to the Dubois County Jail.
