North Knox is searching for a new boys varsity basketball coach. Daniel Crabtree announced he would be stepping down after three seasons heading the program. The search is now on for his replacement.
The Cincinnati Reds scored six runs in the eighth, and held on for a wild 14-11 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers scored six of their own in the ninth, but the Reds have won back-to-back series for the first time this season. Milwaukee’s Christian Yelich hit for the cycle for the third time in his career, tying an MLB record. Tyler Stephenson drove in four, Colin Moran blasted a 3-run homer, and Tyler Naquin had a bases-loaded triple. Alfonso Rivas broke a 5-all tie with a two-run single in the eighth, and the Chicago Cubs went on to defeat the San Diego Padres 7-5. Rivas grew up in nearby Tijuana and Chula Vista. Paul Goldschmidt drove in three, and the St. Louis Cardinals cruised to a 10-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles at Busch Stadium. Miles Mikolas gave up one run and four hits over seven innings for the Cards, which snapped a three-game losing streak.
For the first time this season, Major League Baseball has postponed a game due to COVID-19. The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians had their game postponed to multiple positive tests among the Cleveland traveling party, including manager Terry Francona and several coaches. The Guardians are scheduled to resume play Friday in Minnesota, and the team may have to call up coaches from the minor leagues. The Oakland Athletics dominated the Detroit Tigers 9-0 at Comerica Park. The A’s scored six runs over the first three innings, and Zach Logue allowed five hits over seven innings to earn the win.
The 2022 NFL schedule will be unveiled Thursday night. The Colts already know which teams they’ll play and where, but the dates, times and TV networks will be confirmed Thursday. Colts owner Jim Irsay tweeted his “prediction,” that the Colts will play more than one primetime home game this fall. In addition to playing each AFC South foe twice, the Colts will take on the AFC West, the NFC East, plus games against the Steelers, Patriots and Vikings. Indy will host the Steelers, Chiefs, Chargers, Eagles and Commanders, plus the Titans, Texans and Jaguars. The Colts will kickoff the season Sunday, September 11th.
