Knox County ARC Fires Long-Time Director

Knox County ARC is looking for a new director after Mike Carney was dismissed by the KCARC Board over a personnel matter.   Carney founded the organization in 1972 and had served over 50 years as the KCARC’s only director.
According to reports the Board’s vote on the dismissal was unanimous.  In a statement, KCARC said no other information would be given in regard to the dismissal.
Under his direction, KCARC grew to include various industrial plants, the Civitan Children’s Center, Dove Employment Services, and most recently, the 1972 Community Center.      A search for a new director is expected to start soon.
Earlier this year the Knox County Chamber of Commerce named Carney the recipient of the C. James McCormick Community Leader award.
