Girls tennis sectionals last night at Jasper:
Southridge shut out Pike Central 5-0, while Jasper defeated Forest Park 5-0. Jasper and Southridge play for the ship tonight.
North Daviess plays White River Valley tonight, while Linton faces Bloomfield at Linton.
The Loogootee girls tennis sectional was postponed last night. They will try again tonight with Loogootee taking on Barr Reeve at 4:30 pm, and NE Dubois facing Paoli at 6″00 pm.
Washington and Vincennes Rivet will try again at the Vincennes Sectional at 4:30 pm as it was postponed last night due to rain. The semi finals will follow featuring South Knox against Lincoln. Washington Catholic is awaiting the winner of Washington and Rivet.
The boys are set to compete today at the Track and Field Sectionals at Princeton. 13 teams will be there including all four county teams.
The Washington baseball team faces North Daviess tonight, while girls softball plays at North Posey.
Barr Reeve baseball is at Tecumseh, and girls softball is at home taking on Paoli.

The inclement weather in Indianapolis washed out Wednesday’s practice session at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Teams and drivers were set to run on the track for the second day of the track being open. Practice will now resume on Thursday afternoon, with the track being open for practice from noon to 6 p.m. With the cancellation, IndyCar made modifications to the practice schedule for next week. This session will be used for the top 12 qualifiers, and will now be from 1-3 p.m. The 106th Indy 500 is scheduled to run on Sat. May 28.
The Chicago Cubs were not able to complete the sweep of Pittsburgh falling 3-2 at Wrigley Field. Drew Smyly suffered his fifth loss of the season, while Mitch Keller earned his first win of the year working 2.2 innings in relief. In New York, the Mets’ ace Max Scherzer left the game early, but 11 runs was enough to defeat St. Louis, 11-4. A five run eighth inning put the game out of hand for the Cardinals. Scherzer was credited with the win going 5 innings before leaving the contest. The battle for the Ohio Cup was washed out Wednesday by rain, as the Guardians and Reds will now conclude the two game series Thursday afternoon.
