The Indiana Department of Education recently awarded 11 Next Generation School Improvement grants to several area schools.
Washington Jr. High was among the group.
The junior high school and the 10 other schools will be receiving this grant for the first time.
The grant’s purpose is to help schools better serve students through changes in policy and structure.
Selected schools can receive up to $300,000 in planning grant funds for the current school year and up to $3 million to be distributed over the next four years.
The grants are made possible under the No Child Left Behind Act.
