A special Memorial Day Ceremony was conducted yesterday at the Courthouse steps by the Washington American Legion and VFW.
The names of the fallen and those still missing were announced, with boots placed on the steps of the courthouse for some of those still unaccounted for here in Daviess County.
Washington Mayor Dave Rhoads addressed the crowd, the NJROTC at Washington High School presented the colors, and Lilly Jones sang the National Anthem.
Kelly Hamm Commander of the American Legion served as the master of ceremonies, and Leslie Heschelman with the VFW also spoke.
