The Board of a Public Works and Safety met after last night’s city council meeting and received bids for the city’s summer street paving program.
Milestone Paving of Bloomington bid $895,877 for the 17 projects. E&B Paving submitted a bid of $769,925. The bids were taken under advisement to be sure they meet state standards. Final action will be taken at the next meeting.
The Board also received two quotes for the demolition of a derelict house at 12 E. Hefron Street. Robinson Excavating entered a quote of $17,850, while Velpen entered a quote of $14,300. The Board accepted the low quote.
In other business, the Board tabled the request of a resident to extend an unused alley behind her home due to the fact that no one appeared to answer questions concerning the request.
