The City of Washington is growing, and residents will see slightly lower utility rates based on action by the City Council last night.
Council members passed an ordinance cutting rates reflecting the State of Indiana’s repeal of the utilities receipt tax.
The Council also acted on the annexation of land into the city. They gave final approval of a request from the Indiana Municipal Power Authority (IMPA) requesting the annexation of the new solar field on Washington’s west side.
In addition, the council gave first reading to a request from the owners of the proposed Buffalo Trace subdivision to annex that area located on Bussard Road.
In other action, the Council agreed to rezone a nearly 10-acre area on Business 50 across from the TrueRX building from Industrial to P.U.D. This will open the way for a new housing development with homes in the $250,000 to $275,000 range.
