On Thursday, the Indiana Department of Health detected the first West Nile Virus case of 2022 in a Resident of Lake County.
This virus has been found in mosquitoes from Steuben County as well.
Most people don’t develop symptoms, but some experience cold like symptoms or rashes.
In extreme cases, the disease can be lethal.
Because of this, the Department of Health recommends steering clear of mosquitoes this summer by wearing plenty of bug spray and staying away from stagnant water
