NBA free agency began at 6:00pm EST on Thursday evening marking one of the more action packed portions of the entire league’s schedule. While the Indiana Pacers have remained quiet thus far through 12+ hours of free agency, some of the game’s biggest stars are unhappy and want to be on the move. In perhaps the biggest development the offseason could have seen, Nets star Kevin Durant requested a trade directly to Nets owner Joe Tsai. In the Eastern Conference, the New York Knicks signed former National Player of the Year and Mavericks guard Jalen Brunson to a four-year, $104 million contract. As of Friday morning, the Paces had yet to make any major moves on the notable players from last year’s roster that are entering free agency.
The conference schedules for Big Ten schools like Purdue and Indiana just got more high profile. USC and UCLA are headed to the Big Ten. The two biggest brands in the Pac-12 conference were notified on Thursday night that their application to join the Big Ten had been accepted. The two schools will begin play in the conference in 2024. The vote among big ten presidents and chancellors were unanimous.The move will bring matchups that are not common for Indiana and Purdue’s football programs. The Hoosiers and Boilermakers have played the Trojans just eight times combined and neither team has played USC since 1998.
After several weeks off, the NTT IndyCar Series returns to the track at Mid-Ohio this weekend for the Honda Indy 200. Drivers will race 80 laps and 180.64 miles around the 13-turn road course in Lexington, Ohio. Josef Newgarden, the most recent winner on the IndyCar schedule arrives as the 2021 defending champion and he sits in third in the points standing. Practice for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio begins Friday afternoon at 3:30 with qualifications beginning at 2:45pm on Saturday. They’ll wave the green flag from Lexington on Sunday at 12:45pm.
