The Daviess County Commissioners met on Tuesday with several items to discuss.
The Commissioners first appointed Dennis Evans to the Southeast Fire District Board. Evans will replace Gary Williams, who stepped down on July 3rd after several years of service. Evans has served the district before and is a retired employee of Crane.
Next, the board heard updates from the highway department and approved 3 LPA claim vouchers. Daviess County Highway Department Supervisor Chris Winkler said crews are on schedule to complete the Cannelburg Road Project by October. Crews are currently working on concrete paving at 300 North. The board also received a bid from Milestone Contactors for the rehabilitation of bridge #155 in Montgomery. The bid was over $3.1 million and was taken under advisement.
At yesterday’s meeting, the commissioners also approved revisions to the county’s ADA Title VI plan. Judy Thomann reported that the revisions were very minor and that Daviess County has done a phenomenal job keeping buildings and areas ADA compliant.
In addition, the board heard from Kellie Streeter, who stated the Knox County Health Department has received a $150,000 grant and offered to give Daviess County a portion of that money. Daviess County would receive $10,000 this year and next for vaccination clinics and outreach events. Kellie Streeter also noted she would continue to serve as the contracted Emergency Preparedness Coordinator. The commissioners then approved the annual contract.
