West Boggs Park Employees to See Pay Increases

The Daviess County Council met for a busy Wednesday morning meeting. The council first heard from Diana Snyder, who shared details on the Integrated Reentry and Correctional Support Program (IRACS). The program will be housed in the jail and will help inmates reenter society through classes and counseling. It is fully grant funded.

Jameson Hibbs was also at the meeting to discuss a salary increase across the board at West Boggs Park. Hibbs noted that one of the reasons for the increase was that it has been difficult to find a new park superintendent. That position currently pays just over $50,000 per year but would go up to $65,000 per year under the proposal. All other full-time positions would also see increases.

Hibbs noted another reason for the increase was the amount of activity at West Boggs. Due to COVID, more people have spent time at the park, and with more visits comes more upkeep.

The council agreed to approve the raise as the park is self-funded and the board of directors was comfortable with the decision. The pay increases will take effect on August 1st.

In other business, the council approved a preventive service agreement with Debra-Krumpel HVAC for the new rooftop units recently installed at the jail. The council also approved the annual emergency preparedness contract. Kellie Streeter currently serves in that role.

In personnel action, the council reappointed Shelly Deem, Kent Norris, and Suresh Lohano to the Daviess Community Hospital Board.

The meeting closed with council members presenting a plaque to Daviess County Auditor Patty Ball. Tomorrow will be her last day at the office, and Daviess County Republicans are set to choose her replacement this evening.
