The Knox County Sheriff’s Department says a Florida woman escaped serious injury Saturday afternoon when her R-V Camper was hit by a CSX freight train.
It happened shortly before 4:30 on North Lower Fort Knox Road.
The Knox Co sheriff’s department says the driver, Virginia Wilson of Naples, Florida, was attempting to cross the railroad tracks at McGregor’s Landing Campsite but did not get across the tracks in time.
Wilson said she heard the train’s horn but did not see the train prior to being struck. Wilson, walked away with only minor injuries but was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes for further assessment.
The crash remains under investigation.
