The high school volleyball season gets into full swing tonight with a pair of big games on the air.  The Barr Reeve Vikings will play on the road at Bloomfield tonight.  Live coverage begins at 7:15 p.m. on General 95.9fm and 101.3fm. Meanwhile, the Loogootee Lady Lions will battle it out with Jasper tonight.  You can hear live coverage of the showdown on The Razor 94.5fm WRZR.  
The Washington Hatchets have several home match-ups today.  The Boys Soccer team will play Boonville at the Sports Complex.  The Boys Tennis team will take on Sullivan at home, Boys Cross Country team will run against Vincennes. and the Girls Golf Team plays at Country Oaks against Barr Reeve this afternoon.
 In a battle between the top two teams in the NL Central, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 6-3 on Sunday at Busch Stadium. The win meant a series win for the Cardinals and a one-and-a-half-game lead in the NL Central standings over Milwaukee. Albert Pujols turned back the clock as the 42-year-old homered twice in the victory. The Cleveland Guardians extended their hold on the AL Central with a 7-2 win in Toronto on Sunday. Shane Bieber won his fourth straight game, going seven innings and giving up just two runs. The Chicago Cubs fell to the Reds 8-5. All 13 runs scored in the game came before the top of the sixth inning. Meanwhile, the Chicago White Sox got a 5-3 win over Detroit at Guaranteed Rate Field on the south side of Chicago. Chicago swept the Tigers over the weekend to gain ground on Cleveland in the AL Central. They’re just two and a half games back.
The Indianapolis Colts fell to the Buffalo Bills 27-24 in their first preseason game. Indianapolis took a six-point lead into the fourth quarter before the Bills scored 17 points to win by a field goal. All four quarterbacks on the roster got reps on Saturday. Matt Ryan started the game by throwing a total of 10 passes, completing six of them, for 58 yards. Sam Ehlinger was the most productive signal caller, throwing two touchdowns and only one incomplete pass. Jonathan Taylor did not participate in the game, and head coach Frank Reich confirmed after the contest that the NFL’s leading rusher a season ago would not participate in any of the Colts’ preseason contests. As for the rest of the starters, the Colts plan to rest the first-string players for Saturday’s game against the Lions since Detroit will participate in a joint practice with the Colts leading up to the game. Starters will play for minutes in the final preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
