Two local family farms recently received special recognition from the state with the Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award.
State Representative Shane Lindauer and State Senator Eric Bassler honored the Arvin/Bradley Farm, which has been in operation since 1906, and the Mathies Farm, which has been operating since 1919.
According to the Times Herald, these farm families were among 100 others recently honored at the Indiana State Fair.
Farms owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more are eligible for this award.
