Darrell Ray Underwood, 80, of Washington, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington.
He was born on March 24, 1942, to the late Clayton “Bill” and Mary Elizabeth (Fleener) Underwood in Washington, Indiana.
Darrell was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School. He was a hard-working man and worked many jobs throughout his life. He worked as a lineman for REMC, was the Owner/Operator of Underwood’s Excavating, poured concrete, and eventually worked for Old Ben Coal Mine before retirement. Darrell was a member of the Indiana Free Masons Grand Lodge and was a member of the 20th Century Chevy Club for many years. On January 28, 1994, Darrell married Marsha (Wells) Underwood, and they spent over 25 years happily married.
In his free time, Darrell enjoyed doing anything outdoors. He had a green thumb, and thoroughly enjoyed gardening. He was a jack of all trades, and he was very good at it. Darrell was a perfectionist, and every detail mattered. He loved his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving Darrell is his wife, Marsha Underwood of Washington, Indiana, his children, Aron Underwood, Darin Underwood, and Karson Jay Underwood, step – son, Sean Killion, brothers, Tom (Jennifer) Underwood, and Bob Underwood, sister, Linda (Kenny) Free, grandchildren, Devin Young (Chayce), Casey Underwood, Taylor Killion (Cory Miller), Chance (Mariah) Killion, and Jerzie McCord, great – grandchildren, Harlyn Young and Maisie Killion, and several nieces and nephews.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Mary, and his step – son, Jason Killion.
A celebration of life for Darrell will be announced at a later date.
