John E. Burkhart Sr., 83, of Elnora, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022.
John was born Jan. 29, 1939, in Elnora. He was the son of Willis and Myrl (Powers) Burkhart and married the love of his life Gail (Charles) Burkhart.
John served our country proudly in the National Guard, was a farmer, and retired from North Daviess School System as its custodian when his health declined. He was a member of Southwind Wesleyan Church, the Eagles Lodge and the Moose. In his spare time John loved fishing, hunting and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Myrl (Powers) Burkhart; son Charlie Burkhart; and a brother, Earnie Burkhart.
John is survived by his adoring wife, Gail Burkhart; children Arthur “Artie” Burkhart (Barb), John Burkhart Jr.; grandchildren Angela, Amy and Missy Burkhart; great-grandchild Crystal Lynn.
