Washington High School’s College and Career Academy has received certification from the Center of Excellence in Leadership of Learning at the University of Indianapolis. Sandy Hillman, Early College Director, presented a banner recognizing WHS as highly effective in implementing the eight core principles of Early College.
Washington High School’s partnership with the Norte Dame Advanced Placement Teacher Investment Program has shown consistent growth. Washington’s Asst. Superintendent, Steve Peterson, said that WHS has doubled the number of AP classes offered to students. Peterson reported that 17 WHS students were named AP Scholars. To be named an AP Scholar, a student must score 3 or higher on three or more AP exams. In addition, five WHS students were named either AP Scholar with Distinction or AP Scholar with Honor. Four WHS students, Ben Myers, Isaac Mozingo, Jayden Meredith, and Madalyn Kempf, received the National Rural and Small Town Award.
