The Junior Hatchets football team prepares to play for the area championship on Saturday morning at the K-2nd grade level. Game is in Farmersburg against North Central. Game time is set for 10 am. Good luck to those players and coaches on bringing that title back to Washington.

A couple of NFL trades were finalized on Thursday: The Chicago Bears traded veteran pass-rusher Robert Quinn to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. Quinn had been with the Bears since April 2020 when he signed a five-year, $70 million deal as a free agent.
The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired wide receiver Kadarius Toney from the New York Giants for a conditional third-round pick and a sixth-round pick, a source told NFL insider Chip Jamerson on Thursday.
Other teams were under the impression that Toney could be had for the right price this offseason, even though Schoen insisted he never “shopped” the talented receiver. Toney is a 2021 first round draft pick and has missed the last 5 games due to a hamstring injury.
The powerhouse Astros enter Game One of the 118th World Series tonight in Houston as heavy favorites to capture their second championship in six years but standing in their way is a red-hot Philadelphia team that continues to defy the odds. Game 1 set for 8:03 on FOX with Houston going with right hander Justin Verlander on the bump with Philadelphia selecting right handed Aaron Nola as their starting pitcher. Game 2 will be Saturday evening.
