The Indianapolis Colts had already made a quarterback change before the halfway point of the season, and now they have parted ways with one of their top assistants. On Tuesday, the team announced that it had relieved offensive coordinator Marcus Brady of his duties following a 3-4-1 start. In what head coach Frank Reich called an “incredibly hard decision” with the lack of offensive production someone had to bear the brunt. ***** The Colts statistically have the No. 18 offense in the league, as they average 339.4 yards of total offense per game. The run game has struggled, however, as Indy averages just 87.8 rushing yards per game — which ranks fourth-worst in the league. Although Brady did oversee the offense it’s actually head Coach Frank Reich who calls the plays, if the offense doesn’t pick up the production other changes may be coming.
Following a bye week, Indiana football returns on Saturday at Memorial Stadium for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff against No. 16 Penn State a game you can hear on Razor Radio Sports. The Hoosiers will be without wide receiver Cam Camper, who suffered a torn ACL during Indiana’s 24-17 loss at Rutgers on Oct. 22. Camper leads the team with 46 receptions for 569 yards, and Javon Swinton is now listed as a starter in Camper’s absence. Indiana coach Tom Allen said on Monday that linebacker and team captain Cam Jones remains week to week. Jones hasn’t played since suffering a foot injury during Indiana’s 35-21 loss at Nebraska on Oct. 1, but he’s still second on the team in total tackles. Aaron Casey moved from mike to stinger linebacker when Jones went down, and he’s tied for seventh in the Big Ten with 66 total tackles and tied for third in tackles for loss. And of course the all important QB starter won’t be named until game time.
Steve Nash’s time as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets has come to an end. The Nets and Nash have mutually agreed to part ways after a 2-5 start to the 2022-23 NBA season, the team announced on Tuesday. Assistant coach Jacque Vaughn will serve as Brooklyn’s interim head coach, but the team is expected to be on the search for a full-time replacement for Nash. Potential candidates include suspended Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka and former Utah Jazz coach Quin Snyder, according to NBA INSIDER David King.
