Charles M. Butcher, 72, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Poplar Care Strategies.
He was born February 12, 1950 in Washington, Indiana to the late Everett A. and Zella M. (Hawk) Butcher.
Charles was a United States Army veteran (1970-1972) and served in the Vietnam War. Charles worked a NSWC Crane, drove a truck, and was as a general laborer. He had a Harley Davidson motorcycle he loved to ride. It was his pride and joy. Charles had many friends who he enjoyed being with over the years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars – Post 9395, American Legion – Post 120 and the Abate Motorcycle Organization. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus – Council 732.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett A. and Zella M. Butcher; infant sister, Virginia Sue Butcher; sister-in-law, Jane Butcher.
Charles is survived by his siblings, Bernard Butcher of Crane, Lawrence (Charlene) Butcher of Beech Grove, Elizabeth (Leroy) Bateman of Plainfield, Rosemary Harder of Loogootee, Dorothy (Don) Striegel of Indianapolis, Brenda (David) Harder of Loogootee, Karen (David) Willis of Washington, Connie Hulsbeck of Jasper and Gary Butcher of Loogootee; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will follow in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
