On the mat the Washington Hatchet Wrestling had a great day on Saturday with a first place overall finish at the Warrior Invitational at North Knox. Washington had 3 weight class champions, 5 second place finishes, 2 thirds and 2 fourths. Hatchet grapplers led the 9 team field with 211 points followed by Sullivan with 200, West Vigo with 168 and Gibson Southern with 150. Hatchets are in action on Friday and Saturday in the Pocket Athletic Conference Duals.
 
The legend of Peyton Bledsoe grows in Loogootee as the Senior scored 28 points including a game winning, buzzer beating 3 pointer in the Lions 49-46 win over Jasper. Carter Mundy led the scoring for Jasper with 19 points. Lions next action is versus Forest Park on Friday at JBA, listen on Razor Radio Sports.
3A No. 6 North Daviess Cougars (3-0) got a thrilling win at Oakland City University on Saturday. The Cougars battled to a double-OT, 67-66 win over 6th ranked Class A Evansville Christian. Cougs led by Jaylen Mullen’s 28 points in a back and forth duel with EVC’s Josiah Dunham who had 31 for the Eagles. Lance Wilson also shined with 20 points. ND host North Central on Friday and travels to Southport on Saturday.
Barr Reeve boys team traveled to Orleans at an early peek at a possible sectional 63 matchup. Bulldogs come out on top here 56-49. Braydon Knepp leads the Viking offense with 18 points. Barr Reeve is home against Springs Valley on Friday and travel to Robinson, IL on Saturday.

On the girls side of the action
Evansville Christian took control in the final minute and topped Brian Smith and the Loogootee Lady Lions 45 – 40. Madison Waggoner leads the way for Loogootee tallying 20 points. Loogootee hosts the Lady Hatchets at Jack Butcher arena on Tuesday.
Barr Reeve Lady Vikings led the majority of the way but lost a tough overtime battle 40-34 against the 10th ranked Lady Patriots from Vincennes Rivet. Hannah Bledsoe led the way with 10 points. Lady Vikings go to 4-3 on the season and have a big week with Wood Memorial on Tuesday, The Buggy Bowl on Thursday and Bloomfield on Saturday. Hear all the action on the General 95.9 and 101.3
North Daviess Lady Cougars hosted their own tournament and came away with a win and a loss on the day. Lady Cougars lost to Rock Creek Academy, who would go on to win the title, 39-36 but bounced back to defeat Clay City 33-25 in the nightcap. Joey Riggins and the Lady Cougars are on the road on Tuesday and North Central and at Barr Reeve for the Buggy Bowl on Thursday.

The WJHS 7th grade boys basketball team moves to (7-1) and won its 5th straight Saturday morning with a 52-23 victory over the visiting Mt Vernon Wildcats. Kayden Gross had 21 and Jackson Howell 15 to lead the Hatchets
The WJHS 8th grade boys basketball team (5-0) stayed unbeaten with a 59-22 win over Mt Vernon Aiden Boyd continues his hot hand with 29 points to lead the Hatchets and Brody Armes had 10. The junior high Hatchets play at Jasper on Monday.
Barr-Reeve 8th grade boys beat Pike Central 57-7. The Vikings were led by Cameron Knepp with ten points followed closely by Daniel Underwood with nine point, The Vikings are on the Road Tuesday, and travel to Evansville Christian.
